I just got back from my Gold DofE practice expedition in the Lake District. We canoed down Ullswater lake for a day, walked up and around a mountain then canoed back. I'll be honest with you I wasn't looking forward to it, I didn't enjoy Silver as it was just walking so my hopes weren't too high. But I guess it was just a whole different experience. Our group got on so well, there were no arguments, everyone joked around with each other, there were no separate groups and we just all got on so well. Plus however cheesy it sounds we worked so well as a team :) The place we went to was beautiful, we didn't really appreciate it until the last night when we stayed on a really quiet campsite on the side of a mountain. We had our own little spot with a view of the mountains and the whole lake. We set up the tents and had a little campfire. There was a full moon and loads of stars, it was just magical. I loved it. And even thought I'd been wearing the same clothes all weekend, hadn't showered in days, hadn't slept well and was freezing cold, I didn't want to go home. I just wanted to stay there in our little bubble of the lake district. In our little group (aka the Reem Team) taking the piss out of each other whilst cooking crappy food and looking out over the lake. Just lovely.
Just a pretty song really.
So I suppose I've learnt to appreciate the little things a bit more. Today I've been more proactive- got loads done but enjoyed it. It won't last but it is nice. I watched TV that I normally love and just found it pointless and crap. I sat outside in the garden but didn't have a problem with just doing nothing. Just little things, I feel happier, I'm more me. I've been crazy all weekend but I've been nice and got on with people and not been a bitch and not argued and not been moody. I've loved it. I just got away and was happy and me. At peace.
Me xx

Three Lines on the Shirt, all Drawn with a Ruler
Last weekend I did my Duke of Edinburgh Silver expedition. I won't go on about it for too long but I'll explain the basics :) On Friday we left school at about 2 and stayed overnight (camping of course) On Saturday we walked 20km, camped overnight, walked 18km on Sunday and 12km on Monday. It was very hard- we went to Exmoor which is really hilly and it was so hot! I didn't think I'd enjoy it but I really did. I'll admit that I absolutely hated those hills but you soon forget the pain and remember the fun :) That sounds so corny, I apologise!
This is our group photo on 'the beacon' on top of the moors somewhere. We had a good group, half boys half girls so we didn't have to look at the map and they didnt have to cook (very stereotypical, sorry!)
This is us three girls, I have to say, not looking our best- no make up, unwashed hair and looking pretty sweaty! I guess that's part of it :/ That's Fran, Me and Bekah in case you were wondering :)
This one's a bit random...We had to carry food/tents/sleeping bag etc. and when you take your bag off it makes you feel like your floating...so yes, I'm demonstrating this in the photo :D
The group on a well-earned break :)
One of the many beautiful views, we walked by the coast for a lot of the way and it was so pretty!
So yes I said I wouldn't go on for too long, I hope that was nice and brief :)
Thanks for reading, I really do appreciate followers and your comments mean a lot :) Bit of a soppy ending, sorry guys!
P.S The title of this post has a bit of a story... I stupidly thought that the football song 'Three lions on the shirt' was 'Three lines on the shirt' so I had that sung to me all weekend. I also asked someone what football team their hat was, when it was England, that's how the song was brought up!

Pain au locachat?
I haven't posted for ages and one of my excuses is that I had my Silver Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition at the weekend. On Friday we left school at 4.30 to drive to Derby, we camped overnight then on Saturday walked about 21k to a little village, stayed overnight then walked another 20k on Sunday to Bakewell.
I'm not going to lie I found the walking really hard, it was so hilly and such a long way but as a group we had a great time. I wasn't going to put any group pictures up but you can't really see faces! I'm the one sitting on the floor in black (I recently realised that I never put photos of myself up so you don't really know what I look like!) It was a group of people I don't spend much time with and some people I don't really know so it was good to get to know them better :)
When I look back on the weekend I did enjoy it, but at the time it was pretty horrible! The second day was cold and wet and really tiring but we still had fun! Playing I-spy with things like 'atom' and 'reality' filled some time, as well as singing in the fields- at one point we all started singing 'Barbara-Ann' which was rather amusing! There were loads of random jokes like "Assume the foetal position!" (we all crouch on the floor) Haha when you've walked that far you start to go a bit mental :P
Well I hope you forgive me for not posting in a while, I will try and improve, thanks for reading,

Huh.
At the crack of 8 o'clock tomorrow, when the world should be in bed, I will be at at school, in my freaking trackie bottoms and my clumpy walking boots, getting on a minibus to freaking shropshire to learn how to read a bloody map and put up a bloody tent. At 8 in the morning, jeez.
Duke of fricking Edinburgh.
Duke of fricking Edinburgh.
