You felt as if you'd just woke up...

I just got back from my Gold DofE practice expedition in the Lake District. We canoed down Ullswater lake for a day, walked up and around a mountain then canoed back. I'll be honest with you I wasn't looking forward to it, I didn't enjoy Silver as it was just walking so my hopes weren't too high. But I guess it was just a whole different experience. Our group got on so well, there were no arguments, everyone joked around with each other, there were no separate groups and we just all got on so well. Plus however cheesy it sounds we worked so well as a team :) The place we went to was beautiful, we didn't really appreciate it until the last night when we stayed on a really quiet campsite on the side of a mountain. We had our own little spot with a view of the mountains and the whole lake. We set up the tents and had a little campfire. There was a full moon and loads of stars, it was just magical. I loved it. And even thought I'd been wearing the same clothes all weekend, hadn't showered in days, hadn't slept well and was freezing cold, I didn't want to go home. I just wanted to stay there in our little bubble of the lake district. In our little group (aka the Reem Team) taking the piss out of each other whilst cooking crappy food and looking out over the lake. Just lovely.

Just a pretty song really.

So I suppose I've learnt to appreciate the little things a bit more. Today I've been more proactive- got loads done but enjoyed it. It won't last but it is nice. I watched TV that I normally love and just found it pointless and crap. I sat outside in the garden but didn't have a problem with just doing nothing. Just little things, I feel happier, I'm more me. I've been crazy all weekend but I've been nice and got on with people and not been a bitch and not argued and not been moody. I've loved it. I just got away and was happy and me. At peace.

A Place In This World

Just thought I'd show you some pics from our recent family holiday to Norfolk :) (Family meaning me and my parents (minus my bro), my uncle Guy plus wife and three kids and my uncle Toby plus wife and two kids. So a pretty big bunch, 12 to be exact...) We rented a really nice big house which was cosy and countryside-ish...and right next to the sea :)

We didn't do much, it was mainly rainy walks and lazing around at home. I was lucky as I got to be a kid and spend time with my cousins and go to 'Bewilderwood' (a giant adventure play place in the woods) but I still got to spend time with the adults and have nice meals and drink posh wine :P Though one night I was used as a babysitter for all 5 kids!

Above Left- Me and my cousin Ted on a very cold and rainy walk. Right- Me and my mum by the seaside. Sorry the pictures are of myself, I didn't want to put pictures of all my cousins up for the usual reasons :)

Above- we went on a boat to see some seals, in the rain which was lovely! They were amazing, just lolling around on the beach, must've been freezing though even with all that blubber!

Above- Our pumpkin :) It wasn't quite Halloween but why not? My mum, two cousins and I carved it, please appreciate the incredible artwork ;)

On the last day we went crabbing which I've never actually done before. We caught loads of crabs! We let them go afterwards of course, mind you they did suffer a bit as they were kept in a bucket and held lots :/
The crabs did get a bit angry when we let them out onto the concrete...they all made it safely back to the sea eventually though, don't worry :)

Above- a collage picture in a little art gallery in the seaside town, I love it :)

Above- my dad and I just before we left, my mum managed to get the seagull in the background :P

So yes, overall it was a really nice holiday :) I love spending time with the family however cheesy it sounds and it was good to get away, but I now have all my homework to catch up on, bad times :/

Anyway, hope you're all well, thanks for reading :)

Pain au locachat?

I haven't posted for ages and one of my excuses is that I had my Silver Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition at the weekend. On Friday we left school at 4.30 to drive to Derby, we camped overnight then on Saturday walked about 21k to a little village, stayed overnight then walked another 20k on Sunday to Bakewell.
I'm not going to lie I found the walking really hard, it was so hilly and such a long way but as a group we had a great time. I wasn't going to put any group pictures up but you can't really see faces! I'm the one sitting on the floor in black (I recently realised that I never put photos of myself up so you don't really know what I look like!) It was a group of people I don't spend much time with and some people I don't really know so it was good to get to know them better :)
When I look back on the weekend I did enjoy it, but at the time it was pretty horrible! The second day was cold and wet and really tiring but we still had fun! Playing I-spy with things like 'atom' and 'reality' filled some time, as well as singing in the fields- at one point we all started singing 'Barbara-Ann' which was rather amusing! There were loads of random jokes like "Assume the foetal position!" (we all crouch on the floor) Haha when you've walked that far you start to go a bit mental :P

Well I hope you forgive me for not posting in a while, I will try and improve, thanks for reading,
