Simple Things

This year, instead of buying each other presents, me and two friends decided to do a homemade Christmas. I didn't have any ideas at first but in the end I decided to made gingerbread men and a card with loads of photos on :)

Here are a few photos to show you what they turned out like...

I will admit the gingerbread looked a bit rubbish on its own, even though I spent hours making and decorating all the shapes! I decided to wrap them up and try and make them look pretty. Here's how I did it if you want to try: I used boxes for the bottom, I wrapped one of these in tissue and the other in wrapping paper. The inside is just a patterned paper napkin from Ikea. I put the gingerbread inside and put cling-film over the top then tied string round the whole box. Voila :)
Luckily my friends really liked them, I'm yet to receive their presents but I'll update you on what their ideas were :) Let me know what you think, a nice idea or stick to buying presents?

Hope you all had a magical Christmas,

Diamonds in the Dark

Tonight Bee came to my house just to hang around, watch X-factor and eat pizza and ice-cream! We actually had such a good chat. It's seems cheesy and generic but it really makes you realise who your friends are. We get on so well and can just chat for hours either about nothing in particular or about really serious things that we are genuinely worried about. And I know not everyone's perfect, I see flaws in all my friends, and myself of course, but people need to start accepting the bad with the good. Bee has had such a hard time with people before and still gets crap for the tiniest of things. People just fail to realise that life's to short to be a bitch, yeah we all have our moments but in general it doesn't hurt to be nice. My 'other friends' are being twats at the moment. We all joke around and sometimes the 'banter' goes a bit far but normally we know when to stop and recognise when people are upset. However that isn't the case this time. I'm just so glad I have people to turn to otherwise I really dunno what I'd do. It's real friends like Bee that we need and there's no reason to sit and take anyone's crap when all it does is get you down. I'm sure everyone can relate.

Hunger Strikes

Today I did a 12 hour fast for our school's 'Africa Week'. We were told about it last tuesday so I went and got a sponsor form without thinking it through, I quickly had a lot of sponsors so didn't really have a choice!

So I got up at 7 this morning and had a big breakfast (I know this is kind of cheating but I think I would be ill if I hadn't eaten for about 20hours!) I ate my porridge and toast and then went to school. It wasn't too bad, I realised that I wasn't actually that hungry it was more that I wanted to eat for the sake of it. Kind of like when you're bored so you eat, I just needed something other than boring water! (I was only allowed water no juice or anything.)
At about 6 o'clock I really did start to get hungry, it was so hard being at home with food in the cupboards not being able to just help myself. Well I made it the whole 12 hours, and at 7.30 on the dot, ate my lasange and had my much-craved cup of tea :) I'm glad I bothered to do it, there were only about 3 of us in my year and it was for a good cause. Now the next challenge is to get all the money off people!
